Important dates
Nursery will be closed on Monday 21 st April 2025 due to a bank holiday (full
fees apply).
Preschool Farm trip (1) will be on Tuesday 29 th April 2025. Information sent
separately
Photographer for Preschool will be at nursery on Thursday 1 st May at 1pm.
Marshall Arts Tuesday 1 st May at 2.30pm

apply)
Tuesday 27th, Wednesday 28 th , Thursday 29th & Friday 30 th May are optional,
for funded children, funding does not cover this period, and full fees will apply
if you would like your child to attend.
Funding ends on Monday 21 st July – 29 th August. Please book in the summer
holidays. This is an optional period, the funding does not cover (unless you
have left over hours). Full fees will apply, if you would like your child to attend.
September hours
If you are looking to change or increase hours in September, please let us know.
Spaces are filling fast especially in the younger age groups. We also have a
waiting list we are happy to add you to, if you know you would like to increase
your child’s hours further in advance.
Funding
Funding for all eligible working parents will be available from 9 months old,
from September 2025. This will be 30 hours, term time only. You will need to
renew your eligibility every 3 months. More information can be found on

Please note that funded sessions currently have a £5 per day and £3 per half day
consumables charge. Funding can be used between 9am and 3pm only.
Weather
With the weather changing all the time, please can you make sure your child is
prepared for whatever the weather may be. Can you please pack a spare change
of clothes (more so if they are toilet training). On hot days we will be using the
garden first thing in the morning, before it gets too hot. Therefore, we would
like to ask you to apply suncream prior to coming to nursery and we will top it
up when required.
Gates/ doors
Can I please remind you to close gates & doors behind you whilst on the
nursery premises. This is to ensure your children’s safety.
0-2s
This term in the 0-2’s unit we will be focusing on building relationships and
settling in some new babies to the group. We will be continuing to develop our
language and communication skills including some activities from the babbling
baby cards. The cards we are using this term are displayed on our welcome
wall, above your child’s peg.
We are continuing to build on our understanding of the world, and we will be
going out on lots of walks in the pushchairs, accessing the garden and using our
new large sandpit.
Gross motor skills- climbing and pulling self-up on to the soft play.
Fine motor skills- emptying and filling activities and hand eye coordination
(picking up small pieces of pasta and putting them into a box)
Communication and language- continuing puppet related activities along with
song and rhyme time.
Tiny Tots
Tiny tots (Under 2-3s)
This term Tiny tots will be focusing on the season Spring and growing.
We will be growing cress and making our own yummy sandwiches with it.
Personal, Social & Emotional Development
We will continue to encourage the children to make their own choices
throughout the day; play time, snack time.
A small group of Tiny Tots will be starting their transitions into pre-school and
we will help them with this by adding a little more routine and independence for
them throughout the day.
Physical Development
Gross Motor Skills –
• Action nursery rhymes
• Fun and active play; soft play, large blocks, climbing frame
Fine Motor Skills –
Continuing to spread our butter and pouring our own drinks at snack
Caterpillar making by threading & painting pasta
Focus Story: The Very Hungry Caterpillar
• Reading the story together and retelling it with props
• Talking about and trying the foods from the story
• Exploring the magical transformation from caterpillar to butterfly
Preschool
This term we will focusing on “Planting and Growing”.
Our Focus Story: Jack and the Beanstalk
We’ll be using this story to support language development, and imaginative
play.
The children will have opportunities to retell the story using puppets and
creating our own puppet show. We will be exploring characters, and even
growing our own beanstalks!
Understanding the World – Life Cycles
Children will be planting seeds and learning about what plants need to grow.
We’ll be observing changes over time and exploring the life cycle of a plant. We
will also be looking at other life cycles involving insects, and getting some
caterpillars to watch grow.
Maths Focus:
• Patterns – making and continuing repeating patterns using natural materials.
• Size and Comparison – using language like bigger, smaller, taller and shorter
as we compare beanstalks, footprints and more!
• Weight and Capacity – using scales, soil, beans and water to explore
heavy/light and full/empty.
Personal Independence – Getting Ready for School
We’re encouraging the children to become more independent by:
• Dressing and undressing for PE (please make sure PE kits are on their peg in a
bag and all items are named).
• Taking responsibility for belongings and daily routines.
• Caring for their own plants.
Farm Trip
We will be going on 2 farm trips this term, looking at the different animals that
live at the farm. We will continue the farm interest back at nursery, looking at
different things we can eat or use from the animals and looking into their habitats.
And of course we will have a picnic and a paddle in the river
